In the kebab level the most important thing is to discover which encryption method is used with the hints and then play around with it until getting it right. Nobody got it right, we thought that one it was going to be easier.
And about the md5, you mean the linux user hash, right? Then it's a MD5 + SALT, so you can't use a "rainbow table" directly, so you have 2 options remaining: brute force or a shorcut. Think about shortcuts to crack passwords! You'll solve it :)
